Abuelita's Knitting & Needlepoint
Abuelita's Knitting & Needlepoint

A knitting and needlepoint shop in South Pasadena, open since 2006.

A bright, friendly shop in the Mission West District with one side given to knitting and one to needlepoint — hand-picked yarn, canvases and notions, and classes for every level from first cast-on to finishing.

What we do

Come for the yarn, stay for the chair by the window

Abuelita's is perfect for all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned hobbyists in need of inspiring patterns and yarns. The shop has areas dedicated strictly to knitting and to needlepoint so you can find exactly what you need in a flash — but it's cozy enough that you'll want to pull up a chair and sit awhile.

Classes & private lessons

Knitting, needlepoint and crochet, six days a week. Classes stay small so every student gets the attention they deserve.

Parties & showers

Birthdays, baby showers and bridal showers — a two-hour gathering where everyone goes home having made something.

Knit Club

A late-night stitch n chat on the second Wednesday of every month, 7 to 9pm. Beginners through near-professionals all welcome.

Charity

Project Mother Bear

We knit and crochet teddy bears for children affected by HIV/AIDS in emerging nations — each bear carries a tag signed by the person who made it. It's a great project for scrap yarn, and if you run short, come in and pull from ours.
